Work on the Bugs: Jeff Koons, 2021

This art by Vladimir Kolesnikov is dedicated to the American artist Jeff Koons, who is renowned for his trademark sculptures – balloon animals produced in stainless steel with mirror-finish surfaces. Koons is one of the most controversial contemporary artists; some consider him a genius, others regard his work as kitsch. In this artwork, Kolesnikov is referencing the Balloon Dog sculpture from Koons' Celebration series. The artist combines various images of pop culture - the sculpture, a pin-up model dressed as a rodeo rider from the American Midwest. This creates a whimsical image in which the muffled noise of the gallery mixes with the lasso whiz.
