The Startle, 2022

In animals, including humans, the startle response is a largely unconscious defensive reaction to sudden or threatening stimuli, such as sudden noise or sharp movement, and is associated with negative affect. Artist Aslan Orazaev in his signature style created a portrait of a young girl suddenly frightened by something. The artist skillfully plays with colors, creating a contrast between the elements of the painting. The red hair and clothes emphasize the expression on her face.
