Artist Konstantin Lupanov greets us in an oblique armchair, half-lying, half-turned, in this odd self-portrait. He is in his own studio, surrounded by his paintings. His expression is more one of surprise—as if someone unexpectedly burst in and interrupted his creative momentum. His eyebrows rise in a silent question: "Did you want anything?" Once more, the artist engages the audience with his sense of humor. He puts us in an awkward situation, as though we've stepped in a forbidden territory, driven by our excessive curiosity. We hastily apologize and move on to the next painting.
