Roses, 2022

Konstantin Lupanov is an artist with a witty sense of humor, who does not hesitate to use it in his art. The piece Roses, a self-portrait of the artist while painting, is a satire on his own art. The author is presented in a sly image – a pose bent, a devious expression on his face, layers of clothing, a red hood on his head. At the same time, his bare foot is on the easel, on which stands a painting of exquisite delicate pink roses. The contrast is perplexing. It's not hard to imagine the artist painting this one while barely containing his laughter.
