Kuro Ni Kuro by photographer Dereck Hard is a series of minimalist still lives. The name means "black on black" in Japanese. This series served as an art-therapy as the artist went through a complicated relationship. Items on photos remind him of the unhappy romance. This work, the title of which translates from Japanese as Love, presents the other side of the feeling. Love is portrayed not as a romance, but as a catastrophe, overwhelming feeling that turns a person's entire life upside down. It causes torment and suffering. Reflecting on his unhappy love experience, the artist depicts it as a heart drenched in blood.
