The background features an expensive cottage; the seductive chimera is drinking a cocktail, leaning on a lush pillow. If it were not for the bird’s head on this idealized body, this would have been a common imaginary scene of a “beautiful life” that Western culture reproduces. Refracting this image, the artist invites the unconscious into the space of the canvas.
