Igor Mikhailenko, born in Krasnodar in 1969, is one of the most talented artists of the generation. His career is divided into two significant periods: figurative and abstract. Mikhailenko as an artist was influenced by the twentieth-century world art. In this era of mass communication triumph and open borders, he closely tracks the evolution of contemporary art and aligns his creative endeavors with it. Mikhailenko addresses existential isolation, conflict, alienation, depersonalization, despair, and self-discovery. "I am an artist who is all about emotions. Every creator explores something in their works. Image, concept, and fulfillment are three essential components of the creative process. I am not a contemporary artist, but rather a postmodernist. I don't do open meanings, I'm not interested in artworks that convey literature - there must be theatricality." Igor Mikhailenko's creative process is defined by his intuitive approach. The artist begins with visual perception, reflecting his thoughts and experiences. In the process of painting, the visual object gets saturated with an idea; a concept develops, and a context emerges. "Creativity is an extension of a personality and nature. As for me, I am chaotic, attempting to organize myself." The artist compares his abstract painting to music, encouraging viewers to "listen" and pay attention to the emotions that arise when they see the painting. "One can achieve complete fulfillment through art only. Whether it is painting, composing music, cross-stitching, or pottery. It is unimportant whether you are a star recognized by millions; the goal is to create a work of art that hasn't existed before. This goal should come first, no matter which gallery or museum you end up in."
